How to choose water treatment agent for food wastewater treatment?

   2023-10-17

In recent years, due to the wide range and variety of raw materials used in different food industries, the amount and quality of wastewater discharged vary greatly. Food factories need to treat sewage to prevent organic matter deposited at the bottom of the water from decomposing under anaerobic conditions, producing odor and deteriorating the water body. Therefore, food industry wastewater treatment is very important. So how to choose a suitable water treatment agent? First of all, we should know what food industry wastewater is?

Wastewater treatment in the food industry involves starch, sugar, beverages, canned food, meat, aquatic products, wine making, rice and flour products, dairy products, soybean products, fermented condiments, etc. In addition to appropriate pretreatment according to water quality characteristics, biological treatment is generally suitable for food industry wastewater treatment. If the effluent quality requirements are very high or the organic matter content in the wastewater is high, a two-stage aeration tank or a two-stage biological filter can be used, or an anaerobic-aerobic series biological treatment system can be used.

Food industry wastewater treatment generally uses water treatment flocculants:

Solid polyacrylamide (the dosage per ton of dry mud is generally 3-6 kg)

Emulsion polyacrylamide (the dosage per ton of dry mud is generally 5-10 kg)

Since the mud quality of each factory is different, there are great differences in the chemical consumption of different sludges, different chemicals, different equipment, and different management levels. Therefore, the specific amount of dry mud per ton should be determined based on beaker experiments, medium-sized experiments on machines or periodic operation tests. Through on-machine testing, the appropriate dosage can be determined based on the wastewater conditions.
